"Hello, Mr. Thorn," the young beauty said, making sure to convey her feminine power in her voice, "I'm Emily Ward. I'll be showing you around."
Brian Thorn didn't get as far as he had in life without bein an expert at reading people. He could read straight through this girl. Her tough exterior is learned and well practiced, probably from a life of being quiet and mousey. At some point she decided to rid herself of that image in exchange of this one. She became bitter and uptight.
Emily Ward (Bitchius Beautius Maximus)
"Showing me around?" he asked with a smile.
"Yes, I've been assigned to you."
Thorn smiled. "So you're my assitant, then?"
Bitchious Beautious Maximus was not happy with his playful and charming tone, not one bit. "I've been assigned to show you around the base and to get you acclimated. It's not a job I'm really looking forward to, sir, but it's the one I was given. I've worked too hard to be some... assistant." She stopped, knowing how frustrated she was after so much work, and just sighed. "Now, please, let me show you what we do here."
"I'd love to see what you do."
"Ugh..."
Thorn is charming, and daring, which is part of his charm actually. Some girls were easily won over by his good looks, others took longer to seduce. That "ugh" proved two things. One, this girl wasn't going to go down easy, and two... he absolutely had to have her. For now he just smiled and followed.
"Who's that guy typing away at the immense computer that's hooked up to the mech?" Thorn then pointed to the only man sitting at an enormous super computer that has various cables hooked into various ports.
"That's Dr. Hewitt Kagan, an absolute genius and the man who designed your battle mech." Emily lead on and Thorn paused a brief moment to let her a few steps in front of him and enjoyed the view. She turned quickly and he acted like he had to cough, but she totally didn't buy it.
"Hey there," Thorn said, extending his hand when he finally got to the terminal. The man didn't make a move. "I'm Brian Thorn, I'll be your pilot today."
"That's all I need," the doctor said without looking away from the screen, which was filled with detailed schematics.
"And what's that?"
"Another hot shot pilot who, I'm sure, thinks that he's the reason the monster is defeated and not possibly the design and function of the mech he's piloting." Kagan was arrogant, self centered, opinionated, and straight forward. Thorn liked him already.
Dr. Hewitt Kagan (Scientist Jerkus)
"Well you have to admit," Thorn said, folding his arms across his chest and sitting on the good doctors work station, "if not for a great pilot that mech of yours would never get any glory." Clearly his seating choice was a no no, but Thorn didn't give a shit. He just smiled as Kagan glared at him.
"Unlike humans, machines are perfect. They do exactly what they're designed to do, nothing else. That machine deserves all the glory, not you."
Now, as much as he wanted to, Brian Thorn was not about to get into a debate about human perfection. He figured it'd be best to save this one for another time. Instead he patted the doctor on the shoulder as he got up. "I'd check the socket alignment on the left shoulder, doc. Couldn't block vertically as well as I should have."
Thorn led Emily away and smiled knowingly, as Hewitt Kagan furiously went over his schematics. How could some hotshot pilot know anything about his beautiful machine. But there it was, clear as day, or it should have been. This wasn't over, not by a long shot.
Ms. Ward continued explaining the going ons of the facility, eventually leading Thorn to the war room. This area was governed heavily by a military presence, which made some sense as to opperate the mech legally there would need to be an entity that could attain military clearance for operations.
The first people Thorn saw in the war room were the sorry excuses for pilots who had spent their entire lives for the chance to pilot this super vehicle, just for a good looking yet bad ass actor to drop in and take over. Still they apparently had their uses, or why else would they even be here any more?
The greatest pilots in the world (Pilotus Obsoletus)
When they looked up at Thorn half of them glared, the other half just stared blankly. Thorn just nodded and smiled, but the smile would soon diminish as he was introduced to General Anthony Grant. Now, Thorn was certain Grant was an excellent General, he had to be, he yelled a lot.
For at least half an hour Grant went on and on about how he didn't like that Thorn was part of this team, that he was reckless and insubordinate. Thorn, of course, thought this was all funny, because he hadn't yet had the chance to be insubordinate. Ah well, he thought, comes with the territory.
General Anthony Grant (Militarius Dickus)
The pilots were enjoying the ass chewing, of course, since none of them believed for a second that Thorn deserved the honor of piloting the battle mech. Emily seemed to get a kick out of it at first, as she wasn't very happy with her assignment or the way Thorn had been treating her. Then again, he was new here and probably just trying to be nice. She started feeling sorry for him, but it wasn't really her place to step in at this point.
Finally, just as Thorn thought he was about to lose his cool and snap at this Major Asshole, or whoever he was, a voice silenced them all. "General Grant," came the seductive sound of a cougar in heat. Thorn knew the sound, recognized the strong yet oh so fragrant aroma. This chick needed satisfaction, and that sounds like a job for Brian Thorn.
Interrupting the meeting was none other than the gorgeous...
BEEP! BEEP! BEEP!
Suddenly everyone was flying about the station, preparing for whatever it was that was attacking Tokyo this time. Thorn caught a glimpse of the beautiful woman who would have interrupted had she not been interrupted by the alarms of the base. Ms. Ward had to shove him out the door and towards the mech. He had a job to do.

In no time Thorn returned home, the mech with only minor damages to its armor. The repair crews would have something to do, at least, but just for the time being. Emily Ward met him as he climbed out of the mountainous machine, still in his flight suit of course.
"She wants to see you."
"The lady from before?" Thorn asked with wide eyes.
Emily was not as naive as people thought. "She's married."
Thorn just shrugged as he walked by. Emily started shaking her head at his attitude, but was caught off guard when he turned around to face her. He stared at her for a long time, petrified in the same stance. What the hell was he waiting for?
"You think I should stay in the flight suit or change first?"
Ms. Ward facepalmed. It was at this instant she realized she'd have to chaperone him everywhere to keep him out of trouble. She really needed to request a transfer.
Sophia Vasquez Pryor was in, what had to be, the biggest office Thorn had ever seen. And considering he's a self made millionaire and have multiple friends well into the billions, that's saying a lot. He noted the decor of a strong yet seductive woman. She needed anyone who entered her domain to know that she was in charge, but she could also be inviting. Oh... so... inviting.
Sophia Vasquez Pryor (Cougaris Hornyus)
"Mrs. Pryor," Thorn said as he took her hand and kissed it. He decided to keep the flight suit on. "It's a pleasure to finally meet you."
"You know who I am," she said, obviously struggling to keep her composure. This chick wanted it and wanted it bad and Thorn had, well, a reputation. But she didn't want to appear a harlot and was, technically, still married. So she kept her shirt on.
"Well you do have a very expensive name plate." Thorn flashed his million dollar smile, he knew what he was doing.
Emily sighed very loudly, so loudly in fact that if anybody had been walking nearby they would definitely have heard it. Yep. Thorn ignored her and talked instead to the woman who was the benefactor of this project. Despite it's presence, the military hadn't funded this machine, she had. That meant, basically, that she was the boss. Thorn couldn't remember the last time he had a hot boss.
Eventually Emily was able to pull the two away from each other. She and Thorn were on their way back to the exit of the compound while she was asking him some routine follow up questions. He'd had a long day and wouldn't start working until tomorrow.
"Anything else?" she asked, hoping the conversation was over.
"Well there is one thing that I find curious," Thorn let his voice trail.
"Yeah?"
"You took me on a tour of this entire facility. I saw everything and everyone in it. All the techs, the mechanics, the military personell, the janitors, the scientists, the boss... everyone."
"And?"
"And there's not one Japanese person," Thorn said, somewhat dumbfounded.
Emily cocked her head. "Why does that matter?"
"Isn't this mountain we're in near Tokyo?" he asked, not really needing an answer. "You'd think some of the staff would be Japanese. It's just a bit weird, I suppose."
