The Mighty Mjaeder! stumbled into a dark cave on unsteady legs.
The report by the medical unit and speech from Alternae Tokyo’s mayor were both far from accurate representations of his state. He was not merely in need of a little rest. The truth was the great hero was hurt, mightily hurt. He required massive healing before the Viking would once more be ready for battle. He had never before attempted that which he was now forced to contemplate, his own version of the Odinsleep.
With nearly the last of his mighty strength, Mjaeder! struggled forward and collapsed into the crudely constructed sleep chamber he’d barely managed to mightily fashion for himself.
Slipping beneath any unconsciousness, beneath any coma modern man could comprehend, he entered into the horrific and incomprehensible depths of the sleep of the Allfather. As his consciousness departed for he knew not where, a faint glow began to emanate from his body.
Bob the Frost Giant step forward into the cave. He looked down at the man who had once been his tormentor, who perhaps could have been called his enemy, who he hoped could now be called his friend. Someone needed to stand guard over Mjaeder! as he slumbered. Someone needed to protect the city’s protector while he laid at his most helpless. That Mjaeder! had trusted alone in this world Bob with the secret of his need, that Bob was the one soul the warrior had called on for help, deeply moved the Giant. He took up his post, preparing to use every once of his might to defend Mjaeder! from any threat imaginable…

Bob stared down at Mjaeder!’s motionless form in nervous apprehension.
He had never witnessed the Odinsleep. He did not know what to expect. But he had not anticipated this. The glow, the almost palpable energy that cloaked Mjaeder! had been growing in intensity. It now shined so mightily Mjaeder! was barely visible beneath its glow, and the entire cave seemed to hum with its strength.
Bob was at a loss. He had no idea what to do. As he stood frozen by indecision, the energy filled leaped forward in its intensity. Bob was forced to cover his eyes against the blaze, then was thrust backwards by the force of explosive proportions.
When Bob regained his feet, he looked down and found Mjaeder! laying in his chambers, the energy aura gone, the mighty Viking stirring from his slumber.
As the mighty hero moaned softly, Bob rushed forward and took his hand, helping Mjaeder! raise to a seated position. His eyes, glazed over, gained enough focus to look on to Bob.
“Your vigil has proven successful, it seems…” Mjaeder! mused, “I have returned to this world…”
“Are you well?”
“I will need some time to regain my bearings, it seems,” Mjaeder! replied, getting shakily to his feet with Bob’s assistance, “But the answer, is yes, my friend. I am restored. Even know, I feel the might beginning to coarse through my veins most mightily… I shall soon be ready to stand as King of the Monsters and defend Alternae from the forces of evil…”
“Before you leap into battle, I think there are some things I need to fill you in on.”
“I listen anxiously. Tell me everything…”
