It was a night of shocker news conferences, both from the medical personnel treating The King of the Monsters and the city's mayor. The Mighty Mjaeder, from defeating both Megapwn and Nyarlath in such close succession, needs time to heal and recover. After the heroes barely squeak by with a victory over BlunderGore and the new and improved MechaAxel, thanks primarily because of his fleshy, scaly, counterpart, the mayor unveiled his new plan to bring balance to the confused and cautious city: The Monster City Invitational Hero Tournament! Now the remaining heroes will display their strengths to determine who will be King while The Mighty One rests. "Season 3: Episode 10: Battle Royale" Deadline is November 17th at 11:59:59pm EST (midnight)

(In central park...) Cameras flash, as the city's media hosts and reporters charge onto a meditating Monoslab. It a feeding frenzy, as if it was Black Friday and Monoslab's advice for the participants in the tournament was the hottest new toy. Courtesy and manners are thrown out the window, as reporters and the like elbow each other to be just inches closer. Monoslab remains calm, surprisingly. Anyone else would have blown a gasket during this circus. It certainly could be argued that no one deserves to report on these matters anymore. Monoslab, patient and forgiving, overlooks these ugly actions and remains in their company.
“Monoslab!” a reporter shouts, butting others to the side. “It's accepted fact you are the strongest and most skilled warrior in the universe. What advice do you give the aspiring champions joining in the Monster City Invitational Hero Tournament?”
Monoslab doesn't immediately reply. He is deep in thought, pondering the perfect suggestion.
“Monoslab!” another reporter interrupts, pushing forward. “Do you think raw power and strength will prevail? The Mighty Mjaeder is our current King of the Monsters are no one can argue his might replies on raw power and strength.”
Monoslab takes this new information in. He possibly changes his previous perfect speech.
“Monoslab!” a third reporter shouts, nudging his microphone close. “Don't you feel you have to be the most well-rounded warrior to succeed? SatelLight has proven this point perfectly, defending the city numerous times against evil fiends. He is a tough robotic weapon that doesn't feel pain, and he's remote-controlled by a very smart young man. It seems like the best of both worlds, wouldn't you agree?”
The rocky wall monster still doesn't reply. Maybe it's too late to reply. Maybe these people have indeed been too rude and too impatient after all. Or maybe, as the sea of reporter's and media crews watches on in silence, maybe Monoslab has said everything that needed to be said.
After an hour or so, the battery life on the cameras begin to die. Reporters have no choice but to pack it up, leaving the silent warrior to ponder the questions alone.
(deep within an underground base...) “How goes the upgrades?”
“Very well, boss,” a subordinate replies, turning from an exposed portion of the mech's ankle. “We're just ratcheting up some of the final touches. Are we expecting MechaAxel to engage soon?”
“Soon, but not today,” the leader of Lesser Evil proclaims. “Today, the stupid heroes are doing the work for us. Right now, as we speak, goody-two-shoes is smashing goody-two-shoes and know-it-all flattens know-it-all. They exhaust each other, punish each other, and possibly hurt each other. And do you know for what reason?”
“Why?”
“For a silly tournament,” the leader laughs, scoffing at the thought. “So one of them can rest the feeble minds of the city, as if anything really can besides the tyrannical rule of Lesser Power.”
“How's their tournament fairing so far?”
“I'm not sure,” the leader says, pulling out his tablet. “But let's check it out now!”
The screen displays flickers to a zooming satellite camera. It shows a pair of monster fights. First, Citius is towering over Blue Mantis, and, secondly, Axel the Mutated Shark battling SatelLight. The leader of this nefarious group first focuses on Citius and Blue Mantis' brawl.
He watches the screen, as Blue Mantis does what he can to avoid the gigantic size of Citius, but even now with his new floating nanobot armor, it's seemingly impossible. Mantis tries to avoid the next attack, hiding around some cover, but the building's blocks begin to peel away to Citius' advantage. He then fires his Tesla Coil at the blue superhero, hitting him directly. He jolts back, holding his chest, and falls to the ground. Blue Mantis struggles, but comes back to his feet. He unfortunately is met with a volley of missiles, knocking him back down and out.
“Looks like Blue Mantis was just eliminated,” the subordinate suggests.
“We can hope permanently, too,” replies the leader. “But it looks like Citius and his new nanobots advance.”
“Meeting who?”
“Let's find out!”
Axel advances and shoulder tackles SatelLight. Blake immediately looks down at his controls. He looks like he could have sworn to have SatelLight evade that early attack, but SatelLight didn't respond. SatelLight hits the ground, but finds no peace there, as Axel splashes the orbital weapon. Like a wet beach ball, SatelLight squeezes out from under the pressure and shoots off into the ground level of a skyscraper, causing a great portion of it to collapse on him. Again, Blake looks down on his controller wondering why it's not being responsive. Axel advances, lifting SatelLight from the wreck, and body slams him back into the street. The round robot begins to roll across the street uncontrollably.
“FEED! ME! MORE!” Axel the Mutated Shark shouts out, running over and clubbing SatelLight with a vicious meat-hook clothsline.
A giant crack splinters along the side of SatelLight, so Axel stops. The fight is over, if it really began. More awkwardly, Blake wonders what happened to the control unit for SatelLight.
“Crap, Axel advances,” the subordinate says. “I would have liked to see that stupid fish get what he deserves.”
“It makes no matter, my friend,” the leader responds. “Win or loss, the heroes are now wounded. They are down two heroes. Ready MechaAxel! It's time to attack!”
