So this world has it's heroes.
No matter.
They cannot thwart my plan.
I shall continue to consume.
In secret if I must.
More souls, more fear, more death...
Soon I shall rule you all.

Aaron Sloan unsuccessfully attempted to hide his embarrassment as Noriko jumped up and down waving at him, then jogged over to see him. American girls don't do this, he thought to himself. In fact the only person he remembered ever being this excited to see him was his cousin Molly, and she was back in the States, and she was also five.
"Hello, A-rone," Noriko said with a wide smile and a thick Japanese accent. Molly didn't quite get his name right either. The thought caused Aaron to laugh a bit, which immediately perked Noriko's curiosity. "What is funny?"
Erm, uh, hm. "You just seem to be in a really good mood." She smiled at him. He tried it in Japanese. She corrected him until he got it right. This was how most of their conversations went on, but he was new here and she was one of the best at her school with English.
As soon as they turned a corner, Noriko stopped. Aaron could see she was staring directly at another girl, and it was clear she didn't want to be seen by her. "We must go," she told him.
"Why? Who is that?"
"Tagachi Leiko," Noriko whispered. She kept on quietly in her best English, "she's not very nice sometimes."
Aaron understood all too well. Apparently bullies weren't exclusive to America. Unfortunately as they looked for another route, Leiko spotted them. Mostly she was staring down Noriko as she brazenly walked to meet them.
She wasn't much for speaking English, it seemed, as Aaron listened to some lengthy Japanese speech. He thought he could make out a word here or there, but she was speaking too fast to be sure. The tone was unmistakable, though. Noriko was being bullied.
"Hold on," Aaron finally interjected. "Noriko, what is she saying?"
Clearly Noriko didn't want to repeat all of it. "She said she didn't like me looking at her and that she'll pay me back later."
Aaron looked at Leiko, who might have been attractive if not for the total bitchiness, and then back to Noriko. He wanted to know exactly what had been said, but decided not to push. "Noriko, how do you say 'leave her alone'?"
"Kanojixyodake wo nokosu," she said mostly under her breath.
"Wow, all that?" He faced Leiko, hoping he'd caught it all. "Kanjinxo yoda key whoa nogozu!" A few people nearby laughed, so Aaron just nodded towards Noriko. "What she said."
Another exchange in Japanese, Aaron urged Noriko to translate. "She asks, 'or what, you will hit a girl'?"
"Noriko, can you translate while I talk?"
"Hai."
"Then translate everything I say." Aaron cleared his throat. "You know, Leiko, when I was younger my parents got a dog. Nice little puppy, very cool. But she had this terrible habit of barking all the time, for no reason at all. It was quite annoying. To try to break her of the habit we'd roll up newspapers and swat her on the snout. Eventually she learned her lesson.
"What I'm trying to say is, Leiko, I don't hit girls. But if you keep yapping at me and my friend here then I might just have to slap you like the bitch you are."
Noriko almost didn't finish translating, but Aaron nodded his approval. The other kids gasped at his words and laughed, some even repeated "bicchi" again and again. Infuriated and embarrassed, Leiko simply knocked their books out of their hands and stormed off, which only caused more laughter.

As an avid American, pizza was one of Aaron's favorite foods. He'd tried most combinations of pizza and enjoyed them, but then his parents moved the family to Japan. Pizza has not been the same since.
With common toppings like seaweed salad, Aaron never really felt like he was delivering pizza. Just some crazy Japanese version of it. The current treat he was delivering was squid pizza, and according to Aaron, it smelled terrible.
Still he had to work, and it's what this culture enjoyed, so he wouldn't complain too much. The fact that it was not customary to tip the delivery boy, now that was reason for complaint. A job is a job, though, and he enjoyed the freedom delivering pizza's offered.
He dismounted his little Japanese pizza bike, grabbed the pizza and his special ticket, and walked up to the door. After a few knocks the door opened and Aaron read the phonetic spelling of the Japanese phrases and sentences he was supposed to repeat. Eventually he wouldn't need the ticket anymore.
When he finished he looked up to see Tagachi Leiko scowling at him.
"Oh, hi." Well this was awkward, he thought. He had her sign for it, then she had a few choice things to say to him. He tried to remember some of the words so Noriko could tell him at school tomorrow. Oh well. She slammed the door in his face, then he turned and left.

Later that night Leiko would yell back to her parents as she took the trash out. She didn't understand why she always had to do it and they got to sit around all the time. She called them slave drivers.
As she put the bags into the bin she felt this eerie sensation. Quickly she turned around, knowing someone was behind her. But nobody was there. She sighed in relief, then turned to close the bin. As she turned around she was face to face with a very real, very frightening demon.
She yelled and screamed and fought, but there was nothing she could do. The demon terrorized her, did terrible things to her, and messed with her mind. It seemed to feed off of her pain and fear. Then, just as she thought it was over, that it would kill her, the demon smiled a sinister grin and vanished.
No matter.
