Sometime in the future of our world...
...in Antarctica, where there is a new, large city-scape due to the ever-expanding nature of the human population. To the rich, it was like any other place: warm, cozy, and plenty of provisions--but however, to the poor, it was a frozen hell.
One of these poor inhabitants goes by the name Goggles. It's not his birth name, mind you, because this unfortunate lad can't even remember it; his parents were killed by the harsh weather conditions during a power-malfunction when he was very small. At a shelter now, all he knows is how to survive, and a bit of electronic know-how. Everything was going fine as it could be for this unhappy citizen of the chilling winds....up until the approaching threat of the wormholes. At first, they were small and harmless and were heavily studied by scientists all over the world. However, once they detected that the wormhole was expanding, the called for a mass exodus. The pinnacle of the city the housed the wormhole was called to expand up to the suburbs. This mass-fleeing was easily done due to the wealth of the city's inhabitants. However, the ones in the suburbs, even though at low risk, were left stranded with nothing more than a paranoid sense of mind.
After the exodus, Goggles and other poverty-stricken inhabitants of the suburbs were unrest and couldn't sleep for days. All of the people, including himself, were huddled around the shelter's TV, watching the wormhole absorb the city's expensive infrastructure. Even Goggles' favorite scientific piece, which was a giant Tesla Coil in honor of the scientist, was swallowed up by the hungry abyss. All seemed like it was going to end due the rapidly-expanding pit of death; there seemed to be no end in sight due to it far surpassing the projected final expansion size- it at up a good portion of the suburbs already, too. Then, a scientist with a curious expression flashed on the shelter's screen. It was none-other than Goggles' master teacher, Dr. Koldzpel. He shoved a device at the TV camera explaining that it was a device to travel through and gather data past the other end of the wormhole. Goggles, seeing this, he forgot about the approaching doom for a minute and wondered what this device would find. "what exactly brought a wormhole to the surface to the planet?", "where does this wormhole lead?" and the like were rushing thoughts and questions coursing through his mind.
Then, the enthusiastic doctor threw in the device. After it disappeared into the inky blackness, something very unexpected happened! The wormhole suddenly stopped expanding, and then quickly shrunk and vanished without an explanation! "What the...?" was the expression of all who witnessed this event. Then everyone was then suddenly extremely curious about this device. "Did it vanish because of the device? Is that even possible?" some people thought.
....Some days past without and signals from the device....then all of a sudden the monitor linked to the device's camera made the doctor's room glow in an eerie light. He turned to the screen with his jaw dropped--it was finally at the end of the wormhole!
"HAHA, yes, we have visuals up! I was worried the device got too damaged inside the damn thing..." he said with an awkward tone. Then the device slowly rotated in space revealing....a humongous giant that looked to be made of the very parts of the swollen-up city! Not only that, it was moving towards what looked like Earth. "WAAAH? THAT'S IMPOSSIBLE? Our satellites would pick up that big chunk of metal!" He then scrambled to his links to the video feeds of Earth's surrounding space. "Nowhere to be found! ...Is it possible, that we found a place like Earth?....and how is that thing moving by itself?! In all my years of study, this is the first thing I've seen that confused the heck outta me!" He then reclined back in his computer chair with a strange expression while looking at the ceiling in a baffled manner.
...."What the hell is gunna happen now?"
