“We did it! We did it! It's alive!”
Dr. Red, evil genius, mad scientist, and overall nuisance, runs out from a subway exit holding a overly-large remote control in his hand. His gang of city crushing pests linger nearby.
“It moves! It moves!”
The ground shakes and trembles as the sound of enormous footsteps sound to be coming closer.
“Japan, I introduce to you my ultimate weapon of ultimate destruction and pain and suffering!”
The ground-shattering shaking continues.
“You see, I have synced this weapon with the same powers at the inter-stellar flare beacon, and, with the beacon, it will unlock the mysterious powers of the cosmos and rain death upon this world. Then nothing will be left but a fresh clean slate for my own utopia!”
The near-by buildings start to fall under the stress of the constant shaking.
“Japan – no, the world – I introduce you to the bringer of your death and destruction. This is MECHA-DRACO!!!!”
The city block above the subway explodes in concrete-shattering chaos, exposing a truly massive mechanical dragon clawing his way to the surface. Fully exposed, the dragon towers over the city and is easily twice as large as any previous city-crushing menace.
“Now, Mecha-Draco, retrieve the beacon and become the ultimate monster machine!”
Mecha-Draco lifts his mechanical leg, but something seems off. It snags, maybe something faulty, maybe a bad weld, but, before it can put it's leg back down on the ground, it begins to fall apart into a million shard of scrap metal.
“NO! NO! NO! MECHA-DRACO, NO!”
Dr. Red screams, almost in tears, as his super-mega dragon bot quickly immobilizes. He frantically pushes random buttons on his controller, hoping some sequence will immediate fix him.
<<<<SELF DESTRUCT SEQUENCE HAS BEEN ACTIVATED>>>>
“Oh, Sweet Merciful F----!”
Dr. Red throws the controller over his shoulder and begins to hightail it down the street. His gang retreating close behind. The wreck that was Mecha-Draco begins to blink a neon red, pulsating a little quicker with every moment.
Not too far away, the forces of evil and good stand off. On one side are the sick and twisted Zillas, with the Monster King, Fearzilla, leading the pack. On the other side, are the battered and torn heroes, lead by Fred the blue dragon and Brian Thorn within his Gundam Mobile Suit.
“There are no way you're leaving this battle alive!” soft drink monster, Gulpzilla, shouts. “Let alone with the crown!”
The heroes don't reply. They just stand proudly and stoically, knowing this is their last stand.
“I've been waiting for this day for a long time now, Brian Thorn,” Fearzilla says. “Today you will finally be destroyed by my hand. You will vanquish from my world, once and for all, and, with the power of this crown, you can't say or do anything about it!”
As Fearzilla lifts the almighty inter-stellar beacon into the air, it too begins to pulsate in a red glow. He stares at it in confusion, as this is the first time it has acted this way.
“What the hell?” he quietly asks.
Suddenly, across the city, Mecha-Draco explodes in brilliant fashion, lighting the sky up like a nuclear blast. The heroes and villains turn to the blast, as a giant storm of purple and orange swirl in the night sky. It looks like a beautiful laser light show, lighting the sky more brilliant than Akihabara, but then the center of the storm begins to collapse within itself. A black hole.
The beacon flares in a fit of red light, causing Fearzilla to drop it to the ground. It fidgets and spasms on the concrete for a while, but then too explodes in a cascade of brilliant colors. The blast, seemingly harmless, envelops the battlefield, covering it's warriors in a bubble of dancing particles. Then, within a fraction of a second, the storm snaps, drawing the bubble to fill in the gravitational pull of the black hole. As the beacon's bubble collides with the magnetic force of the storm above the city, everything goes calm and begins to rest. After a couple seconds, the sky returns to normal.
The city streets are now completely empty. No giant insect creatures, robotic warriors, dragons, or mutant food items. Every trace has been lifted from the earth, leaving only their footprints and the immense destruction they have caused in the last few months.
Just as they mysteriously arrived and left before, the horrors of city-crushing monsters are now gone again, but for how long? No one knows for sure, but, as the humans begin to peek out of their bomb shelters, Tokyo finally fills it's lungs with a breath of life.
Tokyo doesn't have to die today.
Maybe later, but not today.
THE END
